We are looking for a maintenance engineer to join our team based at our recently upgraded processing plant at Blar Mhor, Fort William.

If you are ambitious and motivated and want to work with a likeminded team, then this is the role for you. This post is offered on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will be required to work on a rotational shift pattern.

About the job

The successful candidate will responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with all relevant standards.

The job includes, but is not limited to:

  • Responding promptly to breakdowns and ensure timely resolution.
  • Carrying out planned preventive maintenance and reactive repairs on production equipment.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant standards, such as those associated with health & safety and food hygiene compliance.
  • Develop H&S documentation within area of expertise.
  • Identify and record safety issues such as near misses and accidents.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Communicate effectively with processing and quality team colleagues in relation to all engineering work.

Ideal candidate

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognised engineering time served apprenticeship in electrical, mechanical or multi-skilled engineering to SVQ Level 3 or equivalent is essential.
  • Higher education in electrical or mechanical engineering fields to HNC or HND level is advantageous.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair / maintenance skills (mechanical and electrical).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient using CMMS and basic IT tools, such as EAM and Safety Culture.
  • Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to understand the aims of the site and to support the rest of the team to achieve these
