This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated doctor to join the Haematology directorate as a full time (40 hours per week) Clinical Fellow to support both inpatient and outpatient haematology services, contribute to the delivery of cutting edge cellular therapies, and play a key role in the Trust’s transition of CAR T services to an ambulatory model.

As a Clinical Fellow, you will work across our 31 bedded Palatine Ward, the 4 bed inpatient unit, and the adjacent ambulatory care unit. You will collaborate closely with consultants, specialty trainees, clinical fellows, research fellows and IMTs to ensure exceptional care for haematology and CAR T patients.

You will be involved in the management of complex haematology inpatients, , and will participate in weekly ward rounds, MDTs, and specialist outpatient clinics such as the CAR T clinic. You will also support the development of ambulatory pathways for CAR T patients—an important and evolving area of service innovation.

• Provide high quality inpatient and outpatient medical support across haematology services.
• Review Haematology inpatients on Palatine and Withington Wards and other inpatient areas across the Trust.
• Support the transition of CAR T services to an ambulatory model.
• Participate in weekly CAR T and cellular therapy outpatient clinics.
• Attend departmental teaching sessions and contribute to MDT meetings.
• Perform and train in procedures such as bone marrow biopsies and femoral lines.
• Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families and the wider MDT.
• Prioritise workload using strong organisational and time management skills.
• Work flexibly to provide cross cover for inpatient and outpatient areas.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.

We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.
