Central Recruitment is working with a prominent national homelessness charity, whose work includes supporting and accommodating young people.
Our client is currently recruiting for a Family Support & Mediation Worker to work in the Southwark area for a service that delivers a Reconnect, family support and mediation service across London.
• 2 - 3 days per week
• Monday - Friday
• Shifts: 08:00 - 18:00 (flexible shifts available)
• Temporary: until the end of March
• £15.88 per hour (£14.17 per hour, with £1.71 holiday pay)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with young people aged 11-25 and families who are experiencing family difficulties and at risk of homelessness
• Provide personalised support and 1:1 or joint party mediation to improve understanding and communication, reduce conflict and strengthen relationships
• Hold a caseload of 5 - 11 families, preventing family breakdown and promoting the service
• Work with clients in a variety of situations, including young people at school and in temporary or supported accommodation
• Process referrals and maintain a full caseload of clients
• Complete risk and needs assessments, action plans and outcome measures with families
• Build strong partnerships with regional services and local authorities to strengthen referral pathways
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with monitoring and operational standards
• Work with statutory agencies on safeguarding matters and advocate for young people and families when required
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• Significant experience supporting young people and families in crisis, using a reflective, creative and strengths-based approach
• Experience managing an independent caseload with strong organisational and administrative skills
• Experience completing risk and needs assessments and support plans
• Understanding of issues related to youth homelessness
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and external agencies
• Experience delivering mediation to families in conflict
• Strong understanding of professional boundaries and impartial practice
• Willingness and ability to travel and work across multiple London locations
PLEASE NOTE:
• This role will be based at the Head Office in Southwark but travel will be required to different boroughs in London for mediation.
• Travel expenses can be claimed for this role
• This role involves loneworking
FURTHER REQUIREMENTS:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Current valid right to work in the UK
• Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
• A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
• Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
