Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Technical Sales Engineer for our client based in Lanarkshire.
Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected and forward-thinking organisation operating at the forefront of industrial automation, control systems and electrical solutions. Acting as a trusted technical partner to customers across manufacturing and industrial sectors, the successful candidate will combine strong engineering knowledge with a consultative sales approach.
The role is ideally suited to an electrically biased engineer with knowledge of automation technologies such as PLCs, drives, motion control and industrial software, who is keen to apply their expertise within a commercially focused environment. Working as part of a specialist technical team, you will support customers in specifying, designing and implementing tailored automation and control solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers across a range of industrial and manufacturing sectors.
Provide consultative technical support, identifying application requirements and recommending appropriate automation and control solutions.
Prepare detailed and accurate quotations for automation, drives, PLC, motion control and electrical products.
Support customers with system design considerations, digitalisation initiatives and retrofit projects.
Liaise closely with leading manufacturers and suppliers to source bespoke and value-added solutions.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies in automation, robotics, industrial communication and control systems.
Identify opportunities to upsell integrated solutions and additional services, adding value beyond product supply.
Negotiate pricing and close sales professionally while maintaining strong long-term partnerships.
Deliver a high standard of customer service via telephone and email, ensuring technical accuracy and responsiveness.
Skills & Experience
Degree, HND or HNC in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or Control Systems.
Alternatively, proven experience within a technical internal sales, applications engineering or automation support role.
Strong understanding of industrial automation products such as PLCs, HMIs, variable speed drives, motion control systems and industrial networks.
Knowledge of control panels, system integration or digitalisation projects would be advantageous.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly and confidently.
Commercially aware with a proactive, solutions-led approach to customer engagement.
Ability to work collaboratively within a technical team environment.

Competitive salary of £Depending on experience.
Annual bonus of up to 7.5%.
Annual salary review each December.
