We are seeking a motivated and well‑organised individual to join our Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) team as an FFP3 Fit Tester. This is an important role supporting staff safety by ensuring that colleagues are correctly trained and assessed in the use of FFP3 respiratory protective equipment.
The successful candidate will deliver fit testing across a variety of Dorset HealthCare (DHC) sites using the Portacount quantitative fit testing machine. You will work closely with clinical and non‑clinical staff, ensuring they are able to safely don and doff FFP3 masks and understand the principles of effective respiratory protection.
We are looking for someone who:
• Has excellent communication skills and feels confident teaching staff.
• Has strong attention to detail and is comfortable using Excel and data‑entry systems.
• Can work independently across multiple sites.
• Is organised, professional, and committed to high standards of infection prevention.
• Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a car for work purposes.
Previous fit testing experience is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided.
This role offers the opportunity to play a vital part in supporting staff safety and quality of care across the organisation. You will be joining a friendly, supportive IPC team dedicated to reducing risk and improving standards across DHC.
Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.
Carry out FFP3 fit testing using Portacount technology in line with national standards.
Teach and support staff in the correct donning and doffing of FFP3 respirators.
Provide advice and alternative options for staff unable to achieve a suitable fit.
Travel to multiple DHC sites to deliver timely testing (vehicle required; travel expenses reimbursed).
Input, maintain, and monitor fit test results using Excel-based databases and electronic records.
Track and manage stock levels of fit test consumables and mask availability.
Liaise with Procurement to ensure adequate supplies and timely replenishment.
Contribute to the wider IPC team and support trust-wide respiratory protection initiatives.

For the main duties and responsibilities for this role please read the attached job description and person specification. When completing your application please ensure your supporting statement reflects the criteria set out in these documents by showing how your experience and skills apply to this post.
We understand that using AI can be a useful and supportive tool when completing your application. However, we have also seen an increase in the over-reliance of AI tools which is negatively impacting applications as they remove candidate’s individuality, and it becomes much harder to get a sense of who you are and your authentic experience. If you do use AI, it should be used to enhance your application and not to create your supporting statement in its entirety. If we suspect you have used AI to create your supporting statement and this does not match your experience, we may withdraw your application.
