We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 to Band 6 run though post for a children’s nurse to join our Children’s Diabetes Team.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in children’s diabetes. This role will support the Diabetes Team in the delivery of care and the education of children and young people and families in the use of technology and management of their diabetes. The role offers training and support, including care planning for schools.
This role will work predominantly with teenagers and young people, so excellent communication skills and an ability to work dynamically is essential.
Start date will be June 2026
To provide and be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for the Paediatric Diabetes Team. The jobholder will act as a role model, promoting quality evidence-based practice, developing the Paediatric Diabetes Team and ensuring effective management of the team in the absence of the Lead Nurse for the Children’s Community and Specialist nurses.
The role involves undertaking nurse-led and consultant-led clinics, education within schools and other settings, working closely with families and all members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide both physical and psychological care to this diverse patient population.
The successful candidate will be required to work as part of multi-disciplinary within the hospital, primary care and education settings. Excellent communication skills are essential part of the role.
This is a permanent position working 22.5 hours per week over 3 days, Monday-Friday.
