Considering a career in homelessness and prevention?
Do you have a passion for helping vulnerable people enjoy as much fulfilment as they can and feel included in their community? If compassion, care and inclusiveness are an important part of who you are, our opportunities to work away from the routine in a demanding, challenging but emotionally rewarding role could be for you.
Turning Point Scotland is the biggest provider of services to people experiencing or at risk of Homelessness across Scotland, delivering support to around 2000 individuals on any given day, 4500 per year.
We believe that in many cases, Homelessness is entirely preventable. Where Homelessness is not or cannot be, prevented the experience should be brief and non-recurring.
Renfrewshire Housing Support Services
Since 2012, we have worked closely with Renfrewshire Council to deliver a Housing First approach, ensuring people who are experiencing homelessness and have complex needs are supported directly into a permanent tenancy, rather than having to prove they can manage a house. We believe a home provides a sense of belonging, increases feelings of self-worth, makes a person feel part of their community and help move on from challenges they are facing, or have faced.
The Housing Support approach delivers person-centred support to people who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless in the Renfrewshire area. We also offer access to services for mental health, problematic alcohol and other drug use and social opportunities.
We deliver a range of outreach services including Housing Support (Short and Long Term / Intensive); Housing First and Crisis Support.
This role offers an opportunity to work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Our office is located on Sandyford Road in Paisley, just off the motorway and easily reachable by public transport. While having a driving license would be beneficial for this outreach service, it is not a mandatory requirement.
About You
No previous working experience is needed; full training will be provided to you. We believe having the right values of respect, compassion, inclusion and integrity is all you need to join our team! Our experienced team will guide you as you grow in your new role. What matters to us is your sincere dedication to helping individuals secure and sustain their own homes.
All the individuals we assist have unique stories. They may face a variety of challenges, requiring our support and guidance to empower them on their journey to a better path. Together, you and the team will establish a foundation to help them transition to their permanent residence or support them to sustain their tenancy.
As a Support Practitioner, you will work with individuals who have a wide range of support needs, providing them with practical and emotional support and encouraging them to achieve their own personal outcomes in all aspects of their daily lives e.g. keeping safe, meaningful activities, community involvement, physical health, relationships, emotional health and wellbeing.
We welcome applications from all candidates who are eligible to work in the United Kingdom. However, we are not able to sponsor visas.
Turning Point Scotland offers a Salary Matching within the pay points of the role.
Please note that IT skills are required for all our vacancies.
Where applicable, successful candidates will be required to register with the SSSC within 6 months of start date.
