Crynodeb
• Develop and lead a broad range of play activities which are exciting, stimulating and responsive to the needs of individual children.
• Create an atmosphere which generates a sense of belonging for all children attending.
• Support the work of colleagues and team work between all staff, children and parents/carers
• Collect children by foot from local schools and escort them safely to the service base
• Maintain toys, equipment and premises to a clean, safe and hygienic standard.
• Work with other staff to set up and clear away furniture, toys and equipment at the beginning and end of each session.
The qualification requirements for the position are:
• HNC Childhood Practice /SVQ3 Playwork.
• Any other equivalent practice qualification at Level 3 or above which complies with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration requirements for practitioners in a day care of children setting.
In addition, the ideal applicant will have:
• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Previous experience in working with children and young people age 4 to 12 (preferrable)
• Good knowledge of child development and current childhood practice.
Additional job-related requirements
• Willing to support outdoor/environmental play and learning (e.g. forest and garden allotment) in all weathers. (Additional training will be given if required).
• Able to work flexibly to ensure staff to child ratios are maintained.
• The successful applicant will be required to join the PVG scheme or apply for an update, the cost of which will be met by the organization
• Register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of taking up employment.
