We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team working across our care and or housing project. In this role, you will provide essential care and support to individuals in various settings, including care homes, assisted living facilities, and home environments. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for our Service Users through personalised care and support tailored to their individual needs via following the support plans.
We ideally want support workers who can apply their skills, knowledge and experience across both projects but appreciate some candidates may have a preference.
Our service users range from people exiting prison, elderly requiring home care, service users with learning disabilities, young people ( leaving care). we work with a range of different people navigating different services and support needs. it is essential that you have a good understanding of health care, criminal justice system and social care is a must.
Duties
• Assist Service users with daily living activities, some cases may including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management. Other service users may require support in the community and engaging with services such as probation or social care
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive and encouraging environment.
• Implement behaviour management strategies to support clients with challenging behaviours.
• Maintain accurate records of client progress and report any changes in health or behaviour to the appropriate professionals.
• Assist with mobility and physical activities, ensuring client safety at all times.
• some service users may need Support with dementia care by employing specialised techniques to enhance communication and engagement.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement personalised support plans or develop support plans specific to the needs of the service user
• Ensure a clean and safe living environment for service users by adhering to health and safety regulations
• Identifying safeguarding concerns or risk and working professionally to minimise any concerns.
Requirements
• Previous experience in service user care , housing and or criminal justice or a similar role is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous.
• Familiarity with care practices, criminal justice probation work and housing law , including home care protocols, criminal justice strategies , housing law and assisted living standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with service users from all walks of life and their families.
• A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life which includes the ability to set health boundaries to encourage independence and in some cases change .
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work various shifts or times as required by service user and business needs.
• An excellent understanding of safeguarding, risk and risk management
• The ability to write clear and concise reviews on the progress service user has made, whilst assessing needs and detailing specific actions.
• The ability to write and review support plans with service users to encourage collaboration
• Reviewing Health and Safety needs
• Conscientious worker ensuring work completed is within time allotted and to a high standard, we value the people we work with and like to ensure they receive the best service we can offer
