Your new company

Our client, a leading national legal services provider, is seeking an experienced Clinical Negligence Associate to join their established Healthcare team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a specialist defendant clinical negligence lawyer to work on high‑value, complex matters within a collaborative and well‑resourced practice. The successful candidate will be joining a respected team known for its high-quality work on behalf of major healthcare bodies and organisations. Your new role

As an Associate within the Healthcare team, you will:

  • Manage a varied caseload of complex and high‑value defendant clinical negligence claims from instruction through to resolution.
  • Provide high‑quality legal advice on clinical negligence matters, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating key case documentation.
  • Undertake thorough legal research and analysis to inform case strategy and strengthen decision‑making.
  • Draft and review pleadings, witness statements, and detailed correspondence.
  • Liaise with clients, medical professionals, experts, and counsel to gather evidence, progress cases, and maintain effective communication.
  • Attend court hearings, mediations, case conferences, and settlement meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate, organised, and up‑to‑date case files.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within the wider Healthcare team to deliver excellent client service.
  • Identify and contribute to business development opportunities with key healthcare clients.
  • Support client care initiatives for NHS and Trust‑based clients.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, and mentoring to junior team members where appropriate.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified solicitor or CILEX with full litigation rights (essential).
  • 3-6 years' PQE with significant experience in NHS Resolution defendant clinical negligence cases (essential).
  • Proven track record managing complex and high‑value defendant clinical negligence files.
  • Experience in Group Litigation is advantageous.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently and efficiently.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Outstanding communication, client‑handling, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools and case management systems.
  • High levels of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Experience supervising or supporting the development of junior colleagues.
