KPI Education, a specialist education recruitment agency, is working in partnership with an ambitious and inclusive secondary school in Barnet to recruit a Graduate English Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for academically strong graduates who are passionate about literacy and want to develop their classroom practice before progressing into teacher training.

The Role

As a Graduate English Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced English teachers and pastoral teams to support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop their reading, writing, and analytical skills while reaching their academic potential.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group academic support in English.
• Supporting classroom learning across English Language and English Literature lessons.
• Assisting teachers with lesson delivery, behaviour management, and organisation.
• Delivering targeted literacy intervention sessions to raise attainment and close learning gaps.
• Supporting students with additional learning needs and EHCPs where required.
• Monitoring student progress and contributing to assessment and feedback.

This role offers exceptional preparation for PGCE, Schools Direct, and salaried teacher training routes.

Person Specification

• A degree in English or a related field, such as English Literature, English Language, Creative Writing, Linguistics, or Education.
• A strong academic background and genuine passion for literacy and learning.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A professional, proactive, and resilient approach.
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• A clear ambition to pursue a career in teaching or education.
