Location: Remote (with bi-weekly meetups in TW15 1RW)
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week preferred) | Part-time considered
Overview
A growing UK accountancy practice is seeking a proactive and highly organised Accounts & Practice Administrator to support the Director and take ownership of client onboarding, compliance, workflow coordination and client communication.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-growing environment, suited to someone who works independently, communicates confidently (primarily via email and phone), and enjoys taking responsibility. Clear progression is available as the firm expands, with long-term potential to move into a Manager-level position.

What our client is looking for
Experience & Background
• Experience within an accountancy or professional services firm preferred (strong accounts administration experience considered)
• 3–5 years’ experience ideal; 1+ year considered with solid relevant experience
• Experience managing client onboarding processes
• Payroll administration experience is advantageous
• Experience dealing with HMRC and Companies House
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. Xero) and payroll systems (e.g. BrightPay)
• Understanding of compliance and AML procedures

• Strong organisational skills with close attention to detail
• Able to manage multiple deadlines and follow through consistently
• Proactive, ownership-driven and comfortable working independently
• Confident communicator with a strong client service mindset
• Professional and discreet when handling confidential information
The role
Client Onboarding & Compliance
• Managing onboarding from acceptance through to completion
• Preparing engagement letters and conducting AML/KYC checks
• Maintaining compliance records and documentation
• Setting up GoCardless mandates
Workflow & Administration
• Maintaining CRM accuracy and monitoring deadlines
• Proactively chasing outstanding documentation and approvals
• Supporting improvements to internal systems and processes
HMRC & Company Administration
• Completing VAT, PAYE and Self-Assessment registrations
• Managing confirmation statements and company year-end changes
• Liaising with HMRC and Companies House
Software & Payroll Support
• Setting up new clients on practice software (including Xero)
• Supporting payroll administration (BrightPay)
• Assisting with payroll data collection and submission preparation
Client & Director Support
• Managing client enquiries via email and phone
• Drafting professional correspondence aligned with the firm’s tone
• Coordinating meetings and supporting sales consultations
• Assisting with client communications and newsletters
