As the public face of our properties, you’ll provide a warm, friendly welcome, give information about the property, answer questions and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable visit.
Salary: £12.75 per hour, we’re currently undertaking our pay review process and it is likely that this salary will be increased from 1st April 2026
Contract/duration: Fixed term contract until 04-Jan-2027
Hours/working pattern: This is a zero-hour contract, meaning we can’t guarantee a set number of hours each week. While we aim to provide a consistent work pattern, flexibility is needed as schedules may change based on business needs. We’ll try to give as much notice as possible. The role includes weekends and Bank Holidays but does not require evening or split shifts.
Typlical times will typically be a combination of 9:00–16:30 or 10:00–15:00 in the summer opening times. The working pattern includes a mix of weekday and weekend shifts to support the needs of the site.
For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What you'll be doing
Our work revolves around creating great experiences—answering questions, assisting with requests, and making sure every visitor has the information they need to enjoy their day. You’ll help us keep track of who our visitors are so we can continue to improve the service and support we offer.
The role includes a mix of practical and customer-facing responsibilities, such as opening and locking the Welcome Building, driving the access buggy to help visitors move around the site, and using the till to process admissions. You’ll also play an important part in promoting membership and supporting our fundraising efforts, helping visitors feel inspired to get more involved or to donate.
A certain level of physical fitness is required, as the role involves being on your feet for much of the day, carrying out light physical tasks, and working in all weathers.
