Crynodeb
The Registered Manager will have overall responsibility for the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of Caritas Support’s regulated activities within Somerset. The post holder will ensure high standards of professional practice, promote a caring and supportive environment, and ensure that all service users receive person-centred care appropriate to their individual needs.
The Registered Manager will ensure compliance with:
• The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014
• CQC Fundamental Standards
• Safeguarding legislation
• GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018
• Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
• All company policies and procedures
Principal Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
• Oversee the day-to-day running of the Somerset branch.
• Ensure full compliance with CQC regulations and contractual requirements.
• Determine whether the service can safely meet prospective service users’ needs.
• Ensure assessments, care plans, and risk assessments are completed and reviewed.
• Ensure service users receive welcome information, terms and conditions, and access to care systems.
• Investigate complaints and concerns and take appropriate action, including statutory notifications where required.
• Liaise with CQC inspectors and participate in inspections.
• Liaise with Local Authority Monitoring and Contract teams, ensuring KPIs and required returns are submitted on time.
• Plan and chair staff meetings and operational reviews.
• Provide reports to the Regional Operations Manager / Board as required.
2. Service User Care & Safeguarding
• Ensure emotional, physical, spiritual, medical and social needs of service users are assessed and met.
• Promote person-centred planning and support service users to make decisions affecting their lives.
• Work collaboratively with families and professionals to develop outcome-focused support plans.
• Promote community engagement and meaningful activities.
• Ensure healthcare arrangements are coordinated appropriately.
• Act immediately on safeguarding concerns and submit statutory notifications in line with regulatory requirements.
3. Staff Leadership & Workforce Management
• Oversee safe recruitment and staffing levels.
• Ensure effective communication across the team.
• Conduct and oversee induction, supervision, appraisal, and performance management.
• Identify and meet staff training and development needs.
• Monitor staff attendance and sickness and take appropriate action.
• Ensure all staff are competent, trained, and compliant with mandatory training requirements.
4. Premises & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety, fire safety, and infection control legislation.
• Ensure risk assessments are completed in service users’ homes.
• Promote safe systems of work for staff delivering care in the community.
5. Financial Oversight
• Support sustainable and effective branch operations.
• Ensure appropriate documentation of LPAs where applicable.
• Contribute to maintaining financial viability and service growth in Somerset.
Person Specification – Essential Criteria
• Minimum two years’ experience in a senior management role within adult social care within the last five years.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or willingness to complete within agreed timeframe).
• Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and safeguarding frameworks.
• Demonstrable leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Commitment to high standards of care and professional development.
Additional Requirements
• Full UK driving licence (desirable).
• Enhanced DBS check.
• Commitment to confidentiality and GDPR compliance.
