Crynodeb

Dover District Council has an exciting agenda to deliver first class public services, putting our residents at the heart of everything we do. From building new, affordable homes to exciting regeneration schemes. A career with Dover District Council offers you the opportunity to excel.

As an employer, Dover District Council is proud to provide a supportive, friendly, diverse and flexible working environment in which our employees can thrive. We have a team of enthusiastic employees, delivering services they are passionate about.

The Role & Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our Venues Team as Food and Beverage team Assistants. This is a casual role to support the growing events and catering offer with no fixed hours which can be flexible around study, another role or home life. The Maison Dieu (Dover’s Town Hall) has undergone a £10.5 million restoration and renovation. After opening in Spring 2025, this venue is open for public, private, ticketed and community events all year round.

Food and Beverage Assistants will deliver an exceptional customer experience at the Maison Dieu and other Dover District Council sites as required. Help drive the sales of the venue while being an ambassador for the venues. This role includes food and beverage service including bar work.

Who We Are Looking For:

We are looking for someone who will make the customers feel welcome. You should be comfortable with cash handling due to the till work. The role includes assisting with the setup, service, breakdown and clean down of events. To personally provide a very high standard of customer service and to maintain a charismatic, presentable and calm attitude at all times

We ask the person be flexible as working hours vary from 7am to 2am and will be on a rota basis as the operating needs require. The Food and Beverage Assistants work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and Bank Holidays.

GCSE's in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above are essential.

Due to licensing laws, we require applicants to be 18 years old or over.

What Can We Offer?

We can provide a friendly and supportive environment for you to excel in. We also offer several employee benefits, such as:

- An Opt-in Local government pension scheme with the opportunity for staff to make advanced, voluntary contributions (AVCs) to top up their pension.
- A generous annual leave provision.
- A discount scheme including reduced membership rates at the local leisure centre.
- On-site parking.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful applicant will be required to undertake a Basic DBS check as part of their pre-employment clearances.

The quality of your application will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
