What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a Technician in Design and Technology to order and prepare project materials and general resources to support the Technology department, including the use and maintenance of woodworking and other machinery.

The ideal candidate would be well-organised with the ability to work independently, taking responsibility for managing routine safety and maintenance checks. This involves working with a wide range of equipment and resources including CAD software and CAM output devices.

The job role includes:

• Supporting teachers by preparing specialist materials and maintaining a productive working environment
• Enabling pupils to access learning activities as directed by the teacher
• Monitoring stock supplies
• Managing routine safety checks

The successful candidate will:

• Have obtained maths and English qualifications to GCSE Grade 4 or above, or their equivalent
• Have the ability to work independently within the role and have good time management skills
• Be a hard-working team player, able to work efficiently with teachers and other adults within the team to ensure the best for all our pupils
• Be meticulous in adhering to all health and safety requirements
• Have the patience and the resourcefulness to support our children with their learning, helping to unlock their potential
• Preferably have previous experience, including working with CAD software and CAM output devices, although training will be provided for the suitable candidate, including all necessary Health and Safety training.

• Caring for, and maintaining, equipment to a high standard

Previous experience in a similar role is beneficial but not mandatory: training will be provided for the suitable candidate, including all necessary health and safety training.

This role is great way to gain experience working in a school for someone considering a career in teaching.
