‘A Family Committed to Making a Difference’

The pupils of Friezland Primary School are looking for a Headteacher who:

  • will inspire us to aim high and achieve our goals;
  • believes in our potential to achieve great things;
  • is energetic and has a sense of humour;
  • is firm but fair and
  • makes time to listen to our ideas about school life.

Friezland is a small, semi-rural Foundation School with 100 pupils on roll and is part of the Dovestone Learning Partnership (DLP). It is based in the picturesque Saddleworth Village of Greenfield but is within close distance to several towns and major cities. Friezland is highly regarded as a very happy, friendly school where staff and children enjoy good relationships. We pride ourselves on our friendly community ethos where everyone works hard to ensure the best outcomes for our children.

The school’s last graded Ofsted outcome was ‘Good’, a recent ungraded Inspection identified some areas for improvement, therefore the Governors are seeking to appoint a highly enthusiastic and innovative Headteacher to lead the school forward in maintaining the ‘Good’ standard with a view to becoming an outstanding school in the future.

We would welcome applications from someone who has the following skills and experience:

  • A proven track record of leadership, management and improving pupils outcomes through a clear strategy for developing high standards of teaching and learning to ensure that every child achieves their full potential;
  • The vision, passion and capability to motivate, challenge and inspire children and staff;
  • An open approach to fostering active partnerships with staff, parents, governors and a commitment to the community ethos of a school that values everyone;
  • A commitment to working in partnership with Governors and parents;
  • An ability and willingness to adapt with and manage change with a clear vision for further improvement.
  • The ability to manage a major curriculum area as part of the Headteacher role, preferably SEND or Literacy, and the skills to drive change to raise standards in writing.

Application forms should be returned to the Chair of Governors, Mrs Jane Goodwin, via the School Administrator - Beverley.Lewis@friezland.oldham.sch.uk

For more information and to see a taster of daily life at Friezland, please visit our school website: www.friezlandschool.co.uk and for informal discussion regarding the role or a tour of the school, please contact Mrs Goodwin on 07870954618.

The Governing Board is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any successful applicant with be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
