As a Secondary Cover Supervisor, your primary responsibility is to supervise lessons and manage student behaviour when a regular teacher is absent. You will not be required to plan lessons or mark work.
The Role: Class Management and SupportThis is a full-time position, operating Monday to Friday. You will lead the classroom and ensure students remain focused and on-task with work set by the absent teacher or Head of Department.
Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Supervision: Oversee classes across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 (ages 11-18), ensuring a positive and orderly working atmosphere.

Behaviour Management: Effectively implement the school's behaviour policy and deal with any immediate issues promptly according to school procedures.

Support Learning: Respond to general queries from students regarding pre-set work, helping them stay engaged without providing subject-specific teaching.

Administrative Duties: Register student attendance and leave detailed notes for the returning teacher regarding lesson progress and behaviour.

School Ethos: Act as a positive role model, promoting the school's values and maintaining high expectations.

Excellent classroom experience-ideal preparation for teacher training (PGCE/SCITT).
