We’re looking for a Trainee Jewellery Polisher to join our welcoming Repairs team on a 12-month fixed-term contract at our Birmingham Service Centre (BSC) in Hockley.
As the largest single-site jewellery repairs operation in the UK, our BSC plays a vital role in supporting Signet Jewellers’ mission to help customers "Celebrate Life and Express Love". Every repair we complete helps preserve cherished memories, and your work will directly contribute to that purpose.
About the role
As a Trainee Jewellery Polisher, you may already have some basic experience in jewellery repairs or polishing, or you may simply have a strong passion to learn the craft. Over the course of our structured 12-month training programme, you’ll gain the skills needed to polish, clean, and finish precious metal jewellery to the highest standards.
On successful completion of the programme, you’ll have the opportunity to move into a permanent Jewellery Polisher position with us.
What you’ll learn
Our trainee programme combines hands-on machine polishing with basic electroplating techniques (including rhodium and gold plating). You’ll learn to:
- Operate polishing machinery and tools safely
- Polish jewellery to Signet’s quality standards
- Prepare and support items through plating processes
- Follow workshop procedures and quality-control requirements
- Build practical skills in a fast-paced production environment
About you
- Some experience in jewellery repairs/polishing or a genuine interest in developing a career in the industry
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
- Awareness of workshop Health & Safety and security procedures
- Happy to be based on-site 5 days per week in Hockley, Birmingham
Due to the nature of our environment, you’ll be required to follow strict security protocols and attend work metal-free.
