We are looking to recruit a Catering Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking kitchen team, supporting our pupils across both the infant and junior sites. This is an important role within our school community, helping to ensure that every child enjoys a healthy meal in a calm, welcoming lunchtime environment. Working as a member of the catering team, you will support the preparation and serving of healthy school meals, working closely with the Head Cook and school staff. You will assist with basic food preparation, service of meals and washing up, ensuring food is served in a cheerful and friendly manner to both children and staff. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen and dining areas. This includes cleaning kitchen equipment, setting up and clearing tables and chairs, washing and storing crockery and utensils, and ensuring that all areas are left clean and ready for afternoon use, such as PE lessons or assemblies. You will follow food hygiene, allergen and health and safety procedures at all times and complete any required training. We are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable and enjoys working with children. You should be able to work effectively as part of a team, remain calm under pressure, and demonstrate good organisational skills. A willingness to undertake further training and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children are essential. Experience of working in a school or similar environment and a Food Hygiene qualification would be desirable. All staff must have the right to work in the UK and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check prior to appointment. The role may involve some lifting and physical tasks. If you are committed to supporting children’s wellbeing and would like to be part of a caring and supportive school community, we would welcome your application. On the application form, please focus on a detailed 'supporting statement' taking into account the person specification and indicating why you would be the best person for us to recruit to this position. If you would like further information and require an informal conversation or visit, please telephone or email our school office via 01332 318799 or admin@chellastonjuniors.org The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken during the recruitment process and this may include online searches. We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion. Closing date for applications is 12:00PM on Monday 16th March 2026. Interviews to be held on 23rd March 2026.
