An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the Integrated Stroke and Neurorehabilitation Service within Surrey Downs Health and Care on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a community-based neurorehabilitation pathway, including inpatient stroke rehabilitation, Early Supported Discharge, and community neurorehabilitation for people with neurological conditions. You will manage a defined caseload, providing holistic assessment and delivering evidence-based, person-centred interventions to promote independence, recovery and improved quality of life.
Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to assessment, treatment planning, discharge planning and equipment provision across hospital and community settings. The post requires strong clinical reasoning skills, effective communication, and the ability to prioritise and organise workload within a dynamic service.
Please note: A valid UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes are essential for this role due to community-based visits.
The postholder will be based in Epsom General Hospital but will also cover the inpatient stroke bed at Dorking community hospital in addition to outpatient clinics, home visit and care home visits across Surrey Downs area.
• To deliver Occupational Therapy services within hospital and community-based services.
• To provide a comprehensive and co-ordinated range of Occupational Therapy and
• preventative services. Aim to maintain or improve people’s health, independence and
• quality of life whilst maintaining a focus on what matters most to the patient and them
• carers.
• To consolidate and further develop skills and knowledge learned through the Occupational
• Therapy course.
• To assess and implement treatment programmes as an autonomous practitioner,
• maintaining associated clinical records.
• To work unsupervised reporting back and receiving guidance and teaching from the senior Occupational Therapist on a regular basis each week.
