About the role
At the School of Health, Education, Policing & Science at University of Staffordshire we have an exciting portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with a strong history of nursing, midwifery and nursing associate education. We are keen to recruit a lecturer/senior lecturer to support our midwifery provision on a 0.9FTE basis (permanent), You will be joining a well-established team with a wealth of experience both clinically and academically. The school is highly interdisciplinary in nature, and a great place to develop a distinctive academic portfolio.
Main Responsibilities
In addition to developing and delivering outstanding teaching and learning you will have the opportunity to develop your own academic skillset, and contribute towards our ambitious research and enterprise goals. You will play a central role in the development of curricula, module leadership and supporting students through academic mentoring. While research experience is welcome, our priority is to appoint candidates with strong clinical backgrounds who can enrich our programmes and educate the midwives of tomorrow.
Within this community you will have the opportunity to grow academically while working with a team of dedicated professionals. You will get the opportunity to work with like-minded individuals who will support and encourage your career development. As a member of academic staff you will have the opportunity to work at our Centre for Health Innovation in Stafford in one of the UK’s foremost simulation and ‘simmersive’ teaching and learning environments.
We are looking for an experienced candidate who has demonstrable excellent subject knowledge in midwifery, with a passion to teach and shape the next generation of clinicians.
Additional Desirable skills:
• Experience of working in a range of healthcare settings.
• Teaching in a Higher Education setting
• Experience of research and writing for publication.
* Although PhD-level qualifications are desirable, we recognise the value of clinical experience and expertise and welcome applications from midwives who may not hold a PhD
