Clinical: On a day-by-day basis, be responsible for the delivery of clinical care under the indirect /direct supervision of the registered practitioner (indirect - where trained to do so). Carry out a range of nursing care tasks for the child according to the childs care plan ensuring the childs physical/emotional and educational/play needs are met Help with personal care and use of appropriate equipment to hoist, move and handle child safely. Assist with assessing and reviewing needs of child/young people and help implementation of care programmes, this will entail attending patient assessments with Team Leader for Complex care team and liaising with other clinical support workers in the team to ensure effective delivery of care. Independently plan tasks and workload activities whilst ensuring that their practice is guided by standard operating procedures and established protocols. Demonstrate self-directed development to ensure they practise in accordance with established protocols and standard operating procedures under close, but not continuous, supervision. Within the scope of their role, recognise their limitations and present them in a credible and competent manner. Prioritise own workload and be responsible for planned care and tasks delegated from a registered practitioner. Ensure stock rotation is undertaken to minimise the risk of equipment becoming out of date. Professional: Maintain accurate records, documenting care given in line with Trust policies and guidelines Report complaints to Manager in line with Trust policy Reports all accidents/near misses and potential hazards to the Manager Maintain professional boundaries at all times, whilst respecting and recognising that they are working in a family home. Implements new guidelines and policies in line with new service demands and changing practice Act in a manner, which illustrates respect for privacy, dignity and confidentiality. Have a responsibility to ensure all information processed for patients and staff is kept confidential, accurate and in line with the data protection act 1998 and Caldicott principles Leadership: Support team with clerical and administrative tasks as necessary so that an efficient and effective service is offered Support audit in the service to ensure compliance with protocol and guidelines Communicate effectively with the team as a whole Recognise and consistently work within boundaries of the role and acquire skills and knowledge to develop competencies in relation to the service. Maintain responsibility for the identification of own continuing educational needs and development and take part in annual appraisal Assist in the induction and orientation of new staff and advise/demonstrate own activities to less experienced staff. Participate in audits and improving quality programmes to support the Team Leader/Service Lead and team. This is a developmental and supportive role designed to enable the post-holder to gain confidence and competence as a Band 3 Support Worker during the probationary period. Upon successful completion of probation, the post-holder will transition to the Band 4 Clinical Support Worker role. Progression to Band 4 will be dependent on the post-holder meeting the following criteria: Successful completion of the probationary period Completion of the Care Certificate All statutory and mandatory training completed and maintained as up to date Active participation in regular supervision, including discussion of their ongoing development Signed off as competent on the range of clinical skills required in order to deliver care to designated children, independently as a lone working. These skills are: o Use of Ventilators o Oral Suctioning o Gastrostomy Feeding o Nasogastric Feeding o Jejunostomy Feeding o Blended Diet Feeding o Tracheostomy Care (suction) o Epilepsy Care (Including emergency medication) o Blood Sugar Testing o Medication Administration o Manual Handling o Personal Care This role is not eligible for sponsorship as per the Governments UK VISA and Immigration Rules and Regulations.
