We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative person to work directly with the Trust Waste Minimisation Officer and members of the Estates Team in providing day to day and specialist project support. The role will be mainly based in the Estates Department at the Royal Preston Hospital site, but may also involve visiting other Trust sites including Chorley Hospital, Preston Business Centre and smaller clinical premises. The Trust has a significant green agenda including the implementation of a Green Plan, Net Zero Carbon Delivery Plan and Waste Strategy. We need you to help us make a difference and meet our green targets, so it is essential that you have both enthusiasm for and some knowledge of, sustainability and the environment. Your duties will include general administration, liaising with various clinical and non-clinical departments, external customers of the Trusts Waste Transfer Station, contractors and suppliers. You will be responsible for maintaining waste management records and training systems, along with producing regular waste production data and reports. We also require you to establish and maintain auditing/monitoring systems for waste, as well as carrying out some waste management audits across the organisation. You must demonstrate flexible working, excellent communication skills and be very organised and methodical. You will be expected to work both in an office environment and a clinical environment when visiting wards and departments. As some of our waste storage facilities are external, you will also be required to carry out some work outdoors. You will be part of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the biggest and highest performing trusts in the North West; an organisation that provides many specialist tertiary services, delivers award-winning teaching and development programmes, leads national and international clinical trials and research studies, and always gives excellent care with compassion - you will have an unparalleled opportunity to learn, grow and flourish in a supportive and innovative environment, and work with some of the UKs leading healthcare experts. For an informal discussion, please contact Sian Fisher Waste Minimisation Officer on 01772 524095 or 07850 907384.
