ABOUT THE ROLE
Team: Delivery/ Infrastructure
As the Senior Engineer, you will lead the creation and technical review of project and programme work. Your responsibilities include managing standard projects and low risk programmes. In this role, you will support Walk Wheel Cycle Trust in delivering solutions that are high impact, innovative, and practical.
You will take responsibility for producing project and programme outputs and ensuring they meet required technical standards. You will also manage day today activities across typical projects and low risk programmes. Your work will help the organisation achieve its mission of improving walking, wheeling, and cycling options.

What You’ll Be Doing
You will manage low risk projects from start to finish.
You will lead the production and technical review of project and programme outputs.
You will provide line management support to colleagues working at lower grades.
You will work with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies to support successful delivery.
The ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys using their engineering knowledge and judgement to solve problems to design and deliver vital active travel infrastructure to benefit communities.

ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone who has experience and understanding in the areas listed below. You don’t need to meet every requirement — if you feel you’d be a good fit, we encourage you to apply.
You are confident using design software relevant to transport, engineering, or urban design work.
You have up to date knowledge of sustainable transport design and delivery, including innovation, best practice, inclusive design, and the use of new technology.
You have a thorough understanding of current health and safety legislation and safe working practices, including the application of CDM Regulations.
You have either a degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant field—such as Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, or another demonstrably relevant specialism—with at least two years of experience, or a minimum of five years’ experience in a relevant role.
