A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Solar provides specialist mental health support to children and young people (0-18 years) experiencing a range of emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties. We are recruiting to two Assistant Psychologist posts within Solar Secondary Care.

These roles offer an excellent opportunity to gain experience working within psychologically informed multidisciplinary teams supporting children, young people and families with complex needs.

The two positions are:

• Post 1: Assistant Psychologist within Core CAMHS
• Post 2: Assistant Psychologist split across Core CAMHS and the Learning Disability Service

Both roles will involve supporting psychological assessment, intervention, group work, and service development activity, working closely with clinical psychologists and the wider MDT.

The roles offer opportunities to gain experience across different parts of the service, and post holders may work flexibly across teams within Solar in response to service need, development opportunities and the needs of children, young people and families.

The post holders will support the delivery of psychologically informed care within Solar working alongside clinical psychologists and the wider multidisciplinary team to support children, young people and families with a range of mental health needs.

Assistant Psychologists will assist with psychological assessments, support formulation‑informed interventions, contribute to group work, and help collect and record outcome measures. The role will also involve preparing clinical materials, supporting service development activities

One post will be based within Core CAMHS and one will be split across Core CAMHS and the Learning Disability Service offering experience across both service areas. Post holders will work under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist and may be expected to work flexibly across teams in response to service need. We are looking for motivated, reflective psychology graduates with strong communication and organisational skills, experience working with children or vulnerable groups, and an interest in mental health and neurodevelopmental needs.
