Be a Founding Force: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Chaldon, Surrey (Near Redhill/Caterham/Whyteleafe)
Most schools ask you to follow a path. We're asking you to help us build one. Having opened our doors in September 2025, our brand-new Secondary SEN school is looking for its founding team of Teaching Assistants-individuals who want to do more than "support" a classroom, but actually help define the heart and soul of a new educational community.
The Role: Beyond the ClassroomThis isn't your typical school environment. You'll be working with students aged 11-16 who have unique profiles related to social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing.
Your day-to-day involves working within a highly specialised, multi-disciplinary model. You won't be alone; you'll collaborate with therapists and specialists to ensure our students feel safe, understood, and empowered to learn.
What You'll Be Doing:
-
Championing Growth: Helping students navigate learning and social development in a high-support, low-stress environment.
-
Positive Mentoring: Using a tailored, empathetic approach to behaviour, focusing on de-escalation and building long-term independence.
-
Creative Adaptation: Working hand-in-hand with teachers to adjust resources and activities so they meet the specific sensory and cognitive needs of each pupil.
-
Safeguarding Excellence: Maintaining a proactive "eyes-on" approach to pupil welfare and wellbeing.
We prioritise personality and potential over a long list of credentials. This is a perfect launchpad for recent graduates, career changers, or those looking to break into the education sector.
What You Need:
-
The Essentials: GCSE Maths and English Grade 4/C (or equivalent).
-
The Vibe: Resilient, adaptable, and genuinely empathetic. You should be someone who stays calm in a storm and looks for the "why" behind challenging behaviours.
-
The Awareness: A solid grasp of Safeguarding principles (though we will provide extensive ongoing training).
-
The "Nice-to-Haves": Any experience in SEND, youth work, or inclusive settings is great, but your passion is what matters most.
We know that working in specialist education is demanding, so we've built a benefits package that supports your life both inside and outside the school:
-
Professional Growth: We provide fully funded training and qualifications to help you climb the career ladder in specialist education.
-
Financial Security: Benefit from an enhanced pension scheme and life assurance.
-
Physical & Mental Health: Access a Health Cash Back Plan (money back for dental, optical, and physio), an Employee Assistance Programme, and a supportive team culture.
-
Lifestyle & Travel: Enjoy Perkbox high street discounts, a Bike to Work scheme, an optional Car Lease scheme, and free on-site parking.
If you're excited by the challenge of a brand-new school and a rewarding career, we want to hear from you today.
