As aLinen PorteratSodexoinIpswich Hospital, you will be providing a comprehensive Portering service across the site,including general Portering duties and covering for dedicated departmentalporters as required (full training will be provided). The postholder willdeliver an efficient, high-quality service that meets scheduled tasks, ad hocrequests, and emergency response times. Responsibilities include the collectionof laundry from wards and departments throughout the site.
What you’ll do:
- Perform all laundry Portering duties as directed.
- Complete urgent and scheduled tasks on time, following procedures.
- Follow hygiene and infection control standards.
- Comply with Health & Safety regulations.
- Attend required training and annual appraisals.
- Keep equipment clean and report faults promptly.
- Wear issued uniform and PPE; report any damage.
- Support during emergencies, work flexibly (including Bank Holidays), complete shift records, and carry out reasonable additional duties.
What you bring:
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills; able to follow procedures
- Knowledge of workplace Health & Safety
- Previous experience in a service environment
- Good standard of written and spoken English
- Clear communication with colleagues, managers, patients, and the public
- Customer care training (desirable)
- Trustworthy and reliable
- Calm under pressure; able to meet response times
- Tidy appearance
- Courteous and able to maintain confidentiality
- Respectful of privacy and dignity
- Flexible to meet service needs
- Physically fit to lift and move patients and equipment in line with manual handling training
- Able to undertake mortuary duties as required
Desirable:
- Health service experience
- Customer care training
