Equated pay(sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks, and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts every month. Further information will be supplied at the interview stage.

Join Sodexo as a Kitchen Porter at Reeds School and play a key role behind the scenes by maintaining cleanliness, supporting the chefs, and ensuring equipment and workspaces are ready for service. You’ll be part of a supportive team that values care, teamwork, and creating a positive dining experience for students and staff every day.
What You’ll Do:
- Wash and sanitise all crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, equipment, and food service items, ensuring they are clean and ready for use.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across all back-of-house areas, including floors, walls, bins, delivery areas, and storage spaces.
- Assist with cleaning and organising fridges and freezers, and ensure food storage areas remain safe and hygienic.
- Crush and dispose of cardboard and packaging safely, keeping waste areas tidy and compliant with procedures.
- Follow all health and safety, fire, food hygiene, and COSHH regulations, using the correct chemicals at all times.
- Report accidents, near misses, and any equipment or chemical shortages promptly to the Chef or Supervisor.
What You Bring:
- A positive, can-do attitude with a commitment to keeping work environments clean, safe, and organised.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to support colleagues and follow instructions efficiently.
- The ability to work reliably under pressure while maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
- A basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to work towards one)
- An Enhanced DBS clearance is required and will be carried out.
- A proactive and dependable approach, with a willingness to learn, develop skills, and help improve kitchen operations.
- Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or food service environment, particularly in a school or similar setting, is desirable but not essential.
