Role Purpose The Deputy General Manager (DGM) is a senior leader responsible for the comprehensive operational and strategic management of a designated portfolio of services within the Cancer & Clinical Services Division. The primary objective is to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care while achieving all national and Trust performance targets. The DGM formally reports to and deputises for the General Manager. Key Responsibilities: Operational & Strategic Service Management: Oversee the day-to-day operational and long-term strategic direction of the service portfolio. Performance Delivery: Ensure services meet all mandated national standards and internal Trust performance targets (e.g., cancer waiting times). Financial Accountability: Manage designated service budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery of care and efficient resource utilisation. Workforce Management: Responsible for the management of staff, driving workforce development, and fostering a skilled and capable team. Service Improvement: Secure robust clinical engagement to promote continuous service improvement, pathway efficiency, and innovation. Leadership & Governance Leadership: Provide strong, visible leadership and act as a role model, particularly demonstrating the Trusts core value of Respect. Risk & Compliance: Accountable for ensuring service compliance with the Trust's Assurance Framework and all aspects of corporate and clinical risk management. General Management: Participate in the Senior Managers on-call rota to provide essential out-of-hours managerial coverage for the Trust.
