SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Liverpool
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
A rewarding opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs within a specialist Liverpool provision.
Paragon Education is working in partnership with a specialist school in the Liverpool area to recruit a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant. The setting supports pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning successfully.
This role is ideal for someone patient, consistent and confident in supporting young people with complex needs.
Key responsibilities:
Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
Supporting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
Implementing behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
Encouraging positive engagement and relationship building
Supporting pupils in line with EHCP targets
Maintaining a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
A calm, resilient and empathetic approach
Strong behaviour management skills
Ability to build positive and professional relationships
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
Relevant TA qualification desirable but not essential
