Crynodeb
This is a pivotal role, acting as a trusted deputy and key partner to the Group Finance Director, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of finance while providing strategic, operational and leadership support as required.
Combining strong financial control, people leadership and commercial acumen, you will help deliver high-quality reporting, robust governance and enhanced finance capability across the group, while supporting our hotels with clear, practical financial insight.
This role is office-based split between time in the Richmond finance office in London and our Central Commercial Hub in Rugby. Travel will be required nationally to our hotel locations as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
The role reports directly to the Group Finance Director.
About the Role
This is a senior, hands-on position designed to operate as the second-in-command within the finance function. You will work closely with the Group Finance Director, supporting strategic priorities while taking ownership of the operational leadership of finance.
It is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the business, influencing performance, and providing proactive financial leadership across a multi-site hotel portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a strong and dependable deputy to the Group Finance Director, providing leadership, strategic input and decision support.
- Lead the day-to-day management of the group finance function, including hotel operations finance, central finance team.
- Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of monthly management accounts, with clear and actionable performance insights.
- Support and co-lead budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning across the portfolio.
- Maintain robust financial controls, governance and compliance at both group and site level.
- Partner closely with heads of operations and SLTs to enhance profitability, cost control and commercial decision-making.
- Drive performance through rigorous financial analysis and operational challenge.
- Support strategic initiatives, investment appraisals and growth opportunities as required by the Group Finance Director.
- Improve and streamline finance processes, systems and reporting to support operational efficiency and portfolio growth.
- Manage key external relationships including auditors, banks and investors, alongside the Group Finance Director.
- Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Assisting in the preparation of the monthly Board report and any ad hoc reports required by the parent company.
About You
You are a qualified finance leader who combines technical strength with strong people skills. You are equally comfortable operating at a strategic level and rolling up your sleeves when needed, and you bring clarity and calm to complex, fast-paced environments.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- A minimum of five years’ experience in a senior finance role, preferably within hotels or hotel management companies. Experience in finance transformation initiatives or systems implementation projects would be an advantage.
- Proven experience leading and developing finance teams across multiple disciplines.
- Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to challenge operational decisions.
- A strong management accounting and operational finance background.
- Experience improving finance processes and driving consistency at scale.
- The ability to influence and communicate effectively with non-finance stakeholders.
