A leading global facilities management organisation is seeking a Mechanical Plumber to support operations at a major industrial client site. The company provides planned and reactive maintenance, technical engineering support and compliance services across large, high‑performance commercial and logistics environments.
Role Overview
This role involves delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical and plumbing systems within a large industrial facility. The Mechanical Plumber will be responsible for PPM, fault diagnosis, repair tasks and safety‑critical compliance duties. You will work as part of an onsite engineering team supporting daily operations and ensuring building systems remain safe, compliant and reliable.
Key Responsibilities
Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Deliver scheduled PPM activities covering heating, plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Carry out inspections, testing, troubleshooting and repairs across plumbing and mechanical systems.
- Maintain domestic water systems in compliance with L8/Legionella standards.
- Conduct routine plant room checks and ensure assets remain in optimal working condition.
Repairs & Technical Work
- Diagnose and repair issues related to valves, fixtures, pumps, motors and distribution pipework.
- Install and replace piping, fixtures and water system components according to technical drawings and regulations.
- Maintain waste and vent systems using appropriate tools such as snakes or jet washers.
Compliance, Safety & Documentation
- Complete plumbing safety inspections, including backflow prevention where certified.
- Ensure all works meet statutory, health & safety, and internal QHSE requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation using digital systems (e.g., CAFM platforms).
Collaboration & Client Interaction
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues, site teams and contractors to ensure smooth operations.
- Support wider FM and engineering teams with additional operational tasks as needed.
- Respond promptly to urgent issues and prioritise essential repairs to maintain operational continuity.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds qualification in Plumbing (essential).
- Proven experience in commercial or industrial mechanical/plumbing maintenance.
- Skilled in maintaining pumps, motors, valves and mechanical plant.
- Strong understanding of UK health & safety and compliance standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and work to specifications.
- Basic IT skills for completing digital job records.

Working Hours & Conditions
