Part-Time Evening Consulting Veterinary Surgeon – Derbyshire
A thriving, modern veterinary hospital in the heart of Derbyshire is seeking a Permanent Part-Time Evening Consulting Veterinary Surgeon to join its highly skilled and supportive team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon who is passionate about client care, clinical excellence, and professional development within a well-equipped, forward-thinking practice.
The Opportunity
This role offers 3–5 weekday evenings per week (3:30pm–7:30pm), approximately 20 hours per week, in a consulting-only position. It is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys building client relationships, managing case continuity, and delivering high-quality consultations without surgical responsibilities. Flexibility is available to support work-life balance.
The Practice
The practice is home to a large, experienced, and collaborative team including:
• 10 Veterinary Surgeons (including a Lead Vet and Business Partner)
• A Head Nurse
• 12 Registered Veterinary Nurses
• 5 Receptionists
Many of the veterinary team are certificate holders or currently working towards certificates in Dermatology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Emergency & Critical Care, and Ophthalmology, creating a strong clinical support network and opportunities for knowledge-sharing.
Facilities include:
• 7 dedicated consult rooms
• Separate dog and cat wards
• 3 sterile operating theatres
• Dedicated diagnostic suites
• Dental facilities
• Digital X-ray
• Two staff rooms

Salary & Benefits
• £40,000 – £72,000 FTE (pro rata)

Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be:
• An RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Experienced in delivering exceptional clinical and client care
• A collaborative team player with strong communication skills
• Confident in providing clinical leadership and mentoring
• Supportive of nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures, understanding their value in driving clinic efficiency
• Skilled in coaching and influencing colleagues to achieve the highest standards of care
