Job Title: Children’s Support worker – Waking nights (Female only). Temporary position, the possibility of a permanent role in 3–6 months”.
Employer: Deputy/Solicitor on behalf of client Managed by Samantha Hadley Case Management
Location: Current location WN6- with a move to WN3 within 3-6months.
Salary: £16 – 18per hour
Hours/shift pattern: Two waking nights per week: Ideally Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30pm – 8:30am (26 hours total per week), with some flexibility to help cover annual leave or occasional rota changes.
Daytime availability will be required initially to complete training and induction and to build a strong rapport with our client.
From April 2026, there is potential for the role to include sleep-ins depending on family rota when they move into their forever home (Wigan WN3)
We are also looking for a relief worker to cover a mixture of days, waking nights, and sleep-in nights.
About the Role:
We’re recruiting on behalf of our client, a bright and affectionate 8-year-old girl with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, who lives at home with her family and pet dog. She’s non-verbal but full of personality, communicating through Makaton, buttons, and expressive body language.
You’ll join a dedicated family-led support team providing waking night care in the family home. The role is warm, rewarding, and ideal for someone who’s calm, confident, and attuned to non-verbal communication.
Key Responsibilities:
• Providing attentive overnight support, ensuring comfort and safety
• Monitoring for signs of seizure activity and responding appropriately
• Supporting with positioning, transfers, and comfort routines
• Keeping the environment tidy and organised
• Using assistive communication tools (Makaton, buttons, symbols)
• Building rapport and fostering trust with both our client and her family
Support Needs Include:
• Overnight monitoring and safety checks
• Personal care, repositioning and toileting as needed
• Epilepsy support and prompt seizure response
• Maintaining a calm, reassuring presence
• Light housekeeping related to the overnight routine
Personal Attributes:
● Dog friendly – Family has a boxer puppy.
● Empathy, patience and a person – centred approach to care.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work flexibly and adapt to clients changing needs.
● Excellent time keeping
Essential Requirements:
● Support or care experience/qualification: 1 year (preferred)
● Living in the UK: 7 years (required)
● Supporting individuals with epilepsy: 1 year (preferred)
● A full driving licence is essential due to the client’s needs.
● This family occasionally takes therapy trips (up to 3×/year. Therefore, you must be willing and able to travel overseas if required
