Summary

MPI have a requirement for an Aircraft Structures Technician to work on site at RAF Brize Norton. This is a permanent role and salary is dependent on responsibilities, skills & experience.

However it may be deemed, if applicant has got the experience, the role of Senior may be considered by the client.

Rates of pay to be discussed on application.

Working Hours
Mon-Fri Working Regime 40 hours per week
Typically:
x 2 weeks of Day Shifts- Monday – Friday, (08:00 – 17.00)
x 1 week of x 4 Evening shifts Mon-Thu ( 16:00 – 02:00 )
25 days leave plus 8 bank holidays.

Overview of role
Due to an upgrade of our contract, we are expanding our team. Do you have current working knowledge and experience of sheet metal rectification, if so, we want to hear from you!
The bay is responsible for RAF Brize Norton C-17 aircraft airframe structural and composite repairs, metal fabrication, and damage assessments. Work is carried out within the structures bay and on the aircraft, both in the hangar and on the line. Within this role the team are required to work at height and in confined spaces on the C17 aircraft.

At RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, our client has been providing multi-activity and engineering support since 1997. Our client proudly supports the RAF and MoD, supplying around 20 different services onsite, from engine and aircraft maintenance, to fuelling and ground control services. RAF Brize Norton is the largest operating base within the Royal Air Force, providing air transport and air-to-air refuelling to the RAF fleet, and as an Aircraft Structures Technician, you will contribute enormously to the vital work carried out here. You’ll also be part of the wider team, with 5,800 service personnel, 1,200 contractors and 300 civil servants on site.

Main Accountabilities:

Within this role you will be working to deliver metal rectification, including damage assessment, frame skin replacements, damage repairs, structural component changes, corrosion removal, manufacture of repair parts, drilling, countersinking, riveting, close tolerance work and bolting of replacement parts.
Operating workshop machines and hand tools used in airframe structural work and metal repair.
Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical manuals and work instructions.
Using IT software to access technical information and maintenance records.
Documenting all work performed and maintaining accurate records.
Collaborating effectively with other team members and departments to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output.
Ensure that all repairs and rectification tasks are correctly certified and that records of maintenance carried out are correct and complete.

What you need to do the job:

Have working knowledge and experience of sheet metal rectification, previous aircraft experience desirable but not essential.
Have successfully completed a recognised Engineering or Aviation Engineering BTEC/ONC/ NVQ, or equivalent, or military course in Aircraft Engineering.
