We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Scrub Practitioner to join our Trauma Theatre team at Colchester Hospital.

This role is central to the delivery of high-quality trauma and emergency orthopaedic surgery. The successful candidate will work primarily within Trauma Theatres, supporting the safe and effective management of urgent and emergency cases in a fast-paced environment.

You will take an active senior role in the day-to-day coordination of the trauma theatre suite, supporting clinical decision-making, overseeing safe staffing and list preparation, and ensuring efficient theatre flow. You will work closely with the Theatre Leads to maintain high standards of patient care and service delivery.

To join our friendly and experienced team, you will need to be a motivated, confident and adaptable practitioner with proven experience in the operating theatre environment. Applicants must hold NMC or HCPC registration and must be able to scrub competently. Applicants who are trained as Surgical First Assistants (SFA) are welcome to apply, and SFA skills will be utilised within scope of practice — but SFA training is not essential.

We are committed to supporting your ongoing development and will provide a supportive environment to enhance your trauma and emergency orthopaedic skills. While your primary base will be Trauma Theatres, occasional cross-cover to elective orthopaedics may be required depending on operational needs
