Summary

We're looking for a storeperson / support driver who would be responsible for managing materials, tools, and equipment used in multi-utility installations and maintenance projects. The role ensures accurate stock control, timely delivery of materials to field teams, and compliance with health and safety standards specific to utility operations.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse / Store Duties

Receive, inspect, and record incoming utility materials at remote stores locations (pipes, fittings, cables, meters, ducting, safety equipment, etc.)
Verify deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes
Organise and store materials in designated areas for easy access
Pick and prepare materials for scheduled utility projects
Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with stock audits
Monitor minimum stock levels and report shortages
Maintain a clean, secure, and compliant yard/warehouse environment
Conduct routine equipment checks on tools and plant before dispatch
Support Driver Duties

Deliver materials, tools, and equipment to multiple job sites across England
Assist field engineers and utility teams with loading and unloading
Ensure correct materials are delivered according to job specifications
Collect surplus materials and return them to stock
Complete delivery paperwork and obtain required signatures
Conduct daily vehicle safety inspections and report defects
Adhere to road safety regulations and company transport policies
Comply with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on sites


Health & Safety Responsibilities

Follow industry safety standards and company HSE policies
Use appropriate PPE at all times
Ensure safe handling of heavy and specialist utility materials
Support safe yard and vehicle operations
Report hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly
Requirements & Qualifications

Essential

Valid driver’s license (appropriate class for commercial vehicles) - no more than 6 penalty points
Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, or construction/utility environment
Knowledge of stock control systems
Good understanding of health and safety procedures
Physically fit and able to handle heavy materials
Desirable

Experience within the multi-utility or construction industry
Basic knowledge of utility materials and equipment
First Aid or safety certification
