This specific role is based within a welcoming and supportive primary school in Sutton. It is a full-time, term-time position offered on a long-term contract through to June/July 2026, with the potential to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate. You will be working primarily within KS2 in a 1:1 capacity, providing dedicated support to a young learner with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to help them engage effectively with their education.
- Work 1:1 with a Key Stage 2 pupil who requires additional emotional and behavioural support.
- Implement tailored behaviour management strategies to encourage positive engagement in the classroom.
- Act as a positive role model, building trusting relationships with the student to help them overcome barriers to learning.
- Collaborate with the Class Teacher and SENDCo to monitor progress and adjust support plans where necessary.
- De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively, maintaining a safe learning environment.
- Previous experience supporting children with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs.
- A resilient, patient, and empathetic nature.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt your approach to suit individual student needs.
- Reliability and a commitment to making a long-term difference in a school setting.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
