Financial Accountant (Qualified)

Competitive salary, company car, annual bonus and excellent benefits

Milton Keynes, hybrid (3 days in the office)

Are you a driven, curious, and commercially minded Financial Accountant ready to take ownership and make a real impact? This is a broad, traditional role where you'll work closely with an experienced Financial Controller, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of the company's monthly and quarterly financial reporting and control environment, through effective management of accounting processes, statutory and management reporting, and continuous process improvement.

This is not a box‑ticking job. This is a role for someone who thrives on getting stuck in, a self‑starter with energy and ambition.

Your duties will include:

  • Lead the monthly close and reporting cycle, including consolidation, core month‑end tasks, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal management reporting.
  • Oversee accruals, prepayments, and journal review across the finance team.
  • Manage balance sheet budgeting/forecasting, analyse movements, and support monthly reconciliation reviews.
  • Support J‑SOX compliance through testing and remediation tracking.
  • Own the full CAPEX cycle - annual budgeting, approvals, disposals, fixed asset management, and accounting.
  • Prepare for internal and external audits, ensuring strong evidence and timely responses.
  • Support statutory accounts preparation, including notes, schedules, and Ireland branch disclosures.
  • Strengthen finance processes, documentation, controls, and backup ownership across key reconciliations.
  • Identify and address process risks, inefficiencies, and control improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal control frameworks.
  • Assist with FCA returns, cash flow forecasting, and weekly cash expense reviews.
  • Support Compliance with statements, returns, and dormant accounts submissions (UK & Ireland).
  • Complete Office for National Statistics filings.
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders across finance and the wider business.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Financial Controller and contribute to ad‑hoc projects.

What are we looking for?

  • Fully qualified (ACA / ACCA preferable, or equivalent) - essential
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Naturally curious, self‑motivated and proactive
  • Someone with a can‑do attitude, energy and enthusiasm
  • Confident working independently but not alone - you'll have support
  • Detail‑driven, organised and comfortable juggling busy periods
