Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated Midwifery Care Assistant to join our Fetal Medicine and Antenatal Clinic team. This is an excellent opportunity to support women and families during pregnancy, including those requiring specialist fetal medicine care.

In this role, you will work closely with midwives, obstetricians and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, woman-centred care. Duties will include assisting with antenatal clinics, supporting women during appointments and investigations, undertaking clinical observations, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring clinics run smoothly and efficiently.

The successful candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a caring and professional approach, and the ability to work sensitively with women experiencing complex or high-risk pregnancies. Previous experience in maternity or healthcare is desirable, but training and support will be provided.

If you are passionate about maternity care and committed to providing safe, respectful and supportive care to women and their families, we would welcome your application.
• Support midwives and the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of high-quality care within fetal medicine and antenatal clinics.

• Assist with the preparation, running and close-down of antenatal and fetal medicine clinics to ensure smooth patient flow.

• Welcome women and families to clinic, providing reassurance, information and support in a sensitive and professional manner.

• Undertake and record clinical observations as required, including blood pressure, urinalysis, weight and other routine measurements, escalating concerns appropriately.

• Prepare clinical areas, ensuring equipment is clean, available and in working order in line with infection prevention and control policies.

• Assist with chaperoning and supporting women during examinations, procedures and ultrasound appointments.

• Maintain accurate, timely and confidential documentation in both paper and electronic records.

• Support women who may be experiencing complex, high-risk or emotionally challenging pregnancies, signposting to appropriate support when required.

• Communicate effectively with midwives, obstetricians, sonographers and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

• Adhere to Trust policies, professional standards and safeguarding procedures at all times.

• Participate in mandatory training, supervision and personal development opportunities.
