Job Title: SHaW Maths Hub Lead Job Location: Hybrid – Home-based, with travel to partner schools and our Hub Office at Cleobury Mortimer Primary School Salary: Self- employed contractor rates of circa £400-£500 per day Start date: September 2026 Contract type: • Part time role 3 or 4 days per week across the academic year of 38 weeks • Self-employed contractor agreement available for 1 year in the first instance in line with NCETM funding or • SLA with existing provider of this nature available for 1 year in the first instance in line with NCETM funding Closing Date: Monday 16th March at 10.00am
About the role: The Four Stones Gateway Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional Maths Hub Lead to guide and grow the work of SHaW Maths Hub, supporting schools and colleges across Shropshire, Herefordshire, and Wolverhampton. As part of the national network of 40 Maths Hubs funded by the DfE and coordinated by the NCETM, you will lead a strategic programme that brings together local mathematics education professionals to drive excellence in teaching and learning. You will work closely with our growing team of Local Leaders of Maths Education (LLMEs), supporting the delivery of high quality professional development across all phases, through leading the work of the wider Maths Hub Leadership and Management Team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to make regional impact and contribute to national mathematics education improvement at a system leadership level. Whilst this role is part time there is the opportunity for further hours if you have the skillset to be able to run additional LLME sessions. As Maths Hub Lead, you will: • Shape and deliver the strategic vision for SHaW Maths Hub. • Lead the work of the wider Maths Hub Leadership and Management Team and Operational Team. • Empower and coordinate a team of LLMEs and work group leads with a focus from EYFS to post-16. • Oversee the design, quality, and evaluation of professional development programmes. • Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools, colleges, and system leaders. • Represent the hub at regional and national Maths Hubs Programme events. • Ensure that the hub’s work reflects the values of The Four Stones Gateway Trust and the NCETM. • Work in partnership with RISE to support schools where maths has been identified as an area for development • Ensuring our programme has impact on pedagogy and student outcomes over time. Our successful candidate will be a dynamic and highly credible maths education professional who: • Has experience of a leadership role, including being responsible for strategic direction, creating and implementing development plans, managing people, implementing change and being responsible for a budget • Has deep understanding of effective maths teaching and leadership (evidence based and mastery aligned). • Has experience leading professional development, school improvement, or in system leadership. • Can inspire teams and build strong partnerships across diverse settings. • Is committed to improving outcomes for all pupils through collaborative, sustained CPD.
This role reports to our Senior Leadership Link (who is currently our Headteacher at Cleobury Mortimer Primary School) and has a team that reports directly to the post-holder.
The role can be delivered either via an SLA arrangement with another provider, or a self-employed contractor agreement. When you apply please make it clear your preferred option of engagement. NB – Applicants who are currently working in a school and are considering this role, must have consulted with their Headteacher, prior to application. Any SLA would be with the applicant’s employer / school. Therefore, as part of the appointment process, the agreement of any current employer will be sought prior to appointment. Please note that self-employed applicants will be responsible for their own HMRC declarations and pension contributions.
