Management and LeadershipTo support the Assistant Directorate Manager to direct, lead and motivate the Directorate, to ensure a high standard ofprofessionalism, efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of services, ensuring that activity is fully aligned to the business ofABUHB, and is accordance with local and national policy and lawsTo support the Assistant Directorate Manager in resource planning, standard setting, performance management, management ofchange and team and individual development as required.Responsibility for Managing the members of the administrative team within the Directorate.Communication and Relationships.To act as contact point for information queries within ED. This includes responding to ad-hoc queries and supporting the SeniorManagement Team in the development of business plans and service strategies.To liaise with Directorate teams with the Division and across the Health Board to access other systems/information and ensurecontinuous development of systems/processes within the department.Support with governance and concerns management within the department.Responsible for dealing with first line direct patient queries and concerns. Providing and receiving complex and sensitiveinformation, where persuasive, empathetic and re-assurance skills are required. Resolving the issue at local level and determiningthe appropriate channels of escalation if unresolved, where appropriate. To undertake investigations into concerns, untowardincidents and disciplinary incidents, providing a comprehensive report of findings to the Assistant Directorate Manager and ensuringeach incident is reviewed and managed positively to improve servicesAnalytical and JudgementalTo maintain and continually improving the delivery of patient services through implementation of benchmarking, shared bestpractice and continuous service development techniques.Proactively monitor compliance with performance metrics. Liaises with Assistant Directorate Manager in proactively identifyingopportunities to support compliance.To analyse complex data in relation to benchmarking and performance metrics in order to make judgements on findings taking intoconsideration a range of options and make recommendations to enhance service delivery and improve the delivery of patientservices.Ensure Directorate processes comply with the UHBs Compliance and Risk Management Frameworks in order to reduceunnecessary costs, financial liabilities, and improve patient and staff safety.Provide support to Directorates processes set up to achieve relevant national policy guidance/targets in relation to ClinicalGovernancePlanning, Organisation, Policy and Service.Represent the Directorate in designated meetings and take the lead for Directorate in relation to projects designated by the SeniorManagement TeamTo support the Assistant Directorate Manager by leading and managing complex project programmes to enhance the EmergencyDepartment service delivery which will require the formulation and adjustment of plans and activities.To formulate, support and produce business cases to support service improvement needs.Contribute to policy and service developments to enable the Directorate to provide efficient and effective service provision. Monitoroutcomes and propose / implement changes as necessary.Operational ManagementIn conjunction with the Senior Management Team and Medical Staffing Officer e responsible for overseeing of the management ofall Doctors Annual Leave and Medical Rotas ensuring all relevant departments are informed.Providing and receiving sometimes complex, sensitive & contentious information, where persuasive & negotiating skills arerequired.Provide full line management to agreed staff within Directorate including sickness, recruitment, workload allocation and appraisals.Authorised signatory for staff overtime, travel costs etc.Information and DataTo understand the operation of all information systems within the Directorate, along with the associated flows of information.Work closely with the Corporate and Informatics department to ensure all national and local information requirements are metincluding the establishment and maintenance of regular, robust monitoring and reporting systems.To ensure accurate reporting of data in relation to performance targets.Assist in the development of operational systems across the Directorate to encourage proactive management.To lead and roll out on information technology changes within the department.Problem solve IT resolutions as requiredFreedom to ActAccountable for own actions and responsible for those of others.To take the management lead for colleagues within the DirectorateTo plan and prioritise own work, whilst providing support to all areas within the service as and when required.The post holder is expected to work autonomously on a daily basis, will exercise a high degree of personal initiative in carrying outtheir duties and will report to the Assistant Directorate Manager for discussion and direction.To work flexibly in order to deliver the Divisional agenda and to offer support to other colleagues including cover in times of absence
