Crynodeb
Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work including the management of patients in own care. Ensure a high standard of clinical care for patients under own management and support more junior staff to do likewise. Interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnosis and prognosis in on wide range of highly complex conditions to recommend the best course of intervention, evaluate outcomes, reassess and to develop comprehensive rehabilitation plans. Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients including those with complex presentations, utilising investigative and analytical skills to formulate individualised management and treatment plans and specialised programmes of care. Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals and gain informed consent in order to work within the legal framework for patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment. Accept clinical responsibility for own caseload and organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to the clinical progress the patient. Oversee/supervise the caseload of more junior staff to ensure patients are prioritised according to acuity of need across the service areas. Provide highly specialist physiotherapy clinical assessments contributing to MDT diagnosis and care interventions within the speciality as appropriate Maintain a clean safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness hygiene and infection control at all times. Deliver training to own team and to on call respiratory Physiotherapy staff to ensure competence in carrying out duties and clinical interventions within the service area. Regularly participate in working parties developing policy changes within the Therapy Department and other specialities within the Integrated Community and Care Services Group Work with Consultants and other agencies to refer patients and develop the strategic and operational management of the specialist service area within the relevant professional service guidelines and practices. Provide spontaneous and planned advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals to promote understanding of the aims of the Therapy Department and to ensure a constant approach to patient care. Provide specialist advice, teaching and training to other members of the MDT regarding the management of patients.
