About the Role
As a Senior HR Case Adviser, you will be a trusted expert, guiding managers and headteachers through a wide range of complex employee relations matters.This is a dynamic role that requires strong employment law knowledge and safeguarding awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional HR advice on complex employee relations cases, applying employment law and council policies effectively.
- Influence and guide senior managers and headteachers to ensure employee matters are managed appropriately and promptly.
- Offer flexible, innovative solutions to resolve cases, outlining risks and options.
- Act as the HR lead for safeguarding, attending multi‑agency meetings and applying substantial safeguarding knowledge.
- Provide HR advice for Employment Tribunal cases and attend hearings as required.
- Work with the legal team on contentious or high‑risk issues to identify solutions and mitigate organisational risk.
- Mentor and support HR Case Advisers handling complex casework.
- Design and deliver briefings on new or updated HR policies to managers, headteachers and governors.
- Build strong working relationships with managers and headteachers to ensure timely and effective case resolution.
- Support large‑scale restructures, TUPE transfers and academy conversions
- Keep up to date with employment law changes through CPD and employment law
Skills / Experience Required
- CIPD Level 5
- Strong experience handling disciplinaries, grievances, workplace performance issues, and complex casework from end to end.
- The ability to confidently guide and influence managers through challenging HR matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills and the resilience to work with sensitive and sometimes high‑risk situations.
- Experienced in safeguarding, TUPE and organisational change
