Home-Start Herefordshire is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families with children 0-18 years. Home-Start Herefordshire offer regular support and practical help to families under stress, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown.
We are seeking to recruit a Family Support Worker to work primarily with families in our ‘Baby Steps’ project, which provides direct support to care-experienced parents and parents-to-be (aged 16-25), who have specific parenting needs.
The successful candidate would also help with the planning and delivery of the ‘Baby Steps’ Family Group and provide outreach support when needed.
The successful candidate will also support all aspects of Home-Start Herefordshire’s work with families to ensure no child’s future potential is limited by today’s challenges. This includes:
• Working both directly (providing support to parents directly) and indirectly (working with volunteers and partner organisations) with families and children.
• Planning, managing and delivering outcomes-focussed support.
• Working alongside the wider team to contribute to the effective day-to-day operation and development of our organisation (please see the full job description for more information).
We are looking for someone with relevant experience (paid or voluntary), including work with children, families, young people, and/or care-experienced parents. The role requires a good understanding of safeguarding practices and knowledge of the roles of agencies that provide services for children and families.
They must have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain professional relationships across diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. They must be able to demonstrate empathy and understanding of the values and ethos of our organisation.
We are passionate about creating a diverse workforce and actively encourage applications from underrepresented communities.
The role is based at our offices at Thorn Business Park, Rotherwas, Hereford but will require travel across the county. A valid driving licence and use of own car is essential (expenses paid).
