Location: Selby, North Yorkshire



We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Casual/Relief Swim Teachers to join our leisure centre team.

We welcome applications from qualified Level 2 teachers, current Level 1 teachers, and individuals looking to begin their career as a Swim Teacher. Our aim is to provide a safe, inclusive, and high‑quality swimming lesson programme for all ages and abilities.

As a Casual Swimming Teacher, you will work as part of North Yorkshire Council’s Leisure Services to provide flexible cover for annual leave, sickness, and other operational requirements. You will plan, deliver and evaluate swimming lessons, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment. You may be based at one site or support multiple sites as needed. You will help participants build water confidence, improve safety awareness and develop technical swimming skills from non‑swimmers through to advanced levels, while delivering excellent customer care and progress feedback. All work must follow North Yorkshire Council policies and procedures.

What we need from you:

Ability to plan and deliver effective, enjoyable and motivating swimming lessons in line with the Swim England framework
A customer-focused approach at all times
Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults
Understanding of health and safety practices
Ability to work effectively within the swim teaching team
Confident, clear and accurate communication skills
Ability to adapt teaching to different ages, abilities and individual needs
