Sense have a fantastic opportunity for an Activity Coordinator to join our team at our College in Streatley. This is a permanent position role working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:45am to 4:15pm. As an Activity Coordinator you will be responsible for leading activities across the adult social care provision. You will also be responsible for line managing a small team of Support Workers.
You will encourage individuals to develop valuable, relevant life skills and experience a wide range of educational, recreational and leisure pursuits. You will support people with a range of disabilities to participate in a number of different activities offered at our Sense Centre, and to access facilities in the local community. You will also supervise team members and provide varying levels of support with personal care tasks.
You will lead activity sessions based in both the day centre and the wider local community. You will contribute to the planning, development and implementation of sessions as well as maintaining the area as a safe and functional learning environment. You will also supervise Support Workers.
Key skills and experience
Educated to at least English and Maths Level 2 (GCSE A-C) or equivalent.
Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities
Experience of implementing activity programmes with a strong emphasis on learning outcomes, in a variety of environments (pool, gym, kitchen, art room and community based activities)
An understanding of how creative activities can enhance the lives and wellbeing of the people we work with.
Experience of liaison with community groups and other service providers
A progressive outlook and commitment to equality and diversity issues including disability and the empowerment of deafblind people
