You will support the Older Adult Psychological Services in Mid Essex by assisting qualified psychologists with clinical and research tasks. Your role includes co‑facilitating and facilitating psychological and neuropsychological assessments within the Memory Assessment Service, supporting group therapy programmes, and delivering structured individual interventions for service users and carers.
You may also contribute to multidisciplinary assessments and intervention planning for behaviours in dementia that challenge, and assist with the development of clinical interventions. The post involves working across community, inpatient and care‑home settings, attending clinical meetings, liaising with allied professionals, and sharing psychological knowledge across teams.
Alongside clinical work with individuals, families, groups and organisations, you will develop skills in data collection and analysis for research and audit projects. You will receive regular supervision and training, working within a supportive team of clinical psychologists, an art therapist, assistant psychologists and trainees.
The post covers Chelmsford, Maldon and Braintree, with a base at the Crystal Centre in Chelmsford. The successful applicant will hold at least a 2:1 psychology degree and be eligible for BPS Graduate Basis for Registration, with strong time‑management skills.

ROLE SUMMARY
You will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients, supporting neuropsychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified/ senior professional psychologist according to a plan agreed with the qualified/ senior psychologist and within the overall framework of the Trust's policies and procedures. This will be through both direct and indirect work.
You will be expected to work collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, carers, clinicians and other practitioners within the multidisciplinary team in delivering services; providing a 7- day a week, 24- hours a day service for 365 days a year working shifts where appropriate, and as operationally required. You will also be expected to work in an increasingly shared and busy team environment, which includes hot desking, travelling across sites and working in the community; working in care home and inpatient settings will be also expected.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES CLINICAL

Core Clinical Function
• Support neuropsychological assessments and therapy interventions under close supervision
• Deliver group sessions for example psycho-education and therapeutic groups, including our ‘signature’ Mild Cognitive Impairment group intervention, implementation of therapy or other aspects of care, under clinical supervision
• Attend MDT meetings to provide input, learn about patients, agree care plans
• Enable service user families and carers to address issues which affect their health and social wellbeing
• Provide psycho-social intervention, education and support to develop service users' understanding of dementia and other mental health difficulties
• Liaise with staff in a variety of settings, ensuring that teams are able to respond effectively and efficiently to the needs of people with dementia and/or mental health difficulties in their care
• Ensure the maintenance of accurate and timely documentation / records on all service users in line with professional code and Trust policy
Core Non- Clinical Function
• Assist in the continuing development of a high quality service (for example, through data collection and analysis, the use and analysis of patient reported outcome measures or other service user feedback, health and safety audit, team risk assessment etc.) that is underpinned by evidence based practice, care pathways / packages and NICE and DH Guidance
• Jointly and individually ensure the service meets the agreed performance / contractual targets and adheres to local and government initiatives
• Contribute to maintaining databases (e. g. patient databases, waiting list / caseload databases, research record etc.) and writing reports
• Support the delivery of training where appropriate for other professionals
• Assist in service development reviews
• Assist in audits
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the Mid Psychology SDFS team
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
In addition to the above duties you will also be expected to perform the below key activities in line with your job role;
· Complete mandatory training in line with Trust policy and proceduresrelevant to the Band 4 competency framework
· Participate in the staff appraisal process PTo keep yourself updated on all matters relating to Trust policy
· Provide management supervision where appropriate
