JOB DESCRIPTION
Part-Time Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 22-year-old woman living in Aberdare. I have a learning disability and communication disorder so I come across younger than I am. I find it difficult to communicate key parts of information or fully understand instructions given to me. At times I can be impulsive and struggle to think through my actions.
I enjoy all types of music from gospel and pop music to latest chart songs. I enjoy all the typical activities of a young person and need some assistance and guidance to access these opportunities.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To support me to confidently access the community and develop communication skills to be able to talk through general life challenges. Improve social awareness.
HOURS OF WORK
6 hours per week
2 x 3 hour shifts worked in the afternoon
RATES OF PAY
£14.50 per hour
40p mileage when you use your car
TASKS WILL INCLUDE
Supporting me to build my confidence in social settings
Engaging in activities such as shopping and a coffee stop
Going for a drive
Fun activities like bowling or going to a concert
Looking for new and interesting activities to participate in
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
You must have a confident and direct approach in communication
Someone who is easy to talk to with a good sense of humour
Be able to give reassurance and guidance when needed
Proactive in situations and be able to problem solve on your own initiative
A mature and sensible approach to life
Patience is essential
Awareness of social situations with the ability to advise and provide guidance where needed
A car owner/driver who is willing to use car for work purposes/take me on outings
ABOUT THE JOB
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
